BC548 Transistor Pinout, Characteristics and Equivalent

BC548 is a general purpose NPN transistor, used in many electronics circuits like signal amplification and switching circuits. In this article sharing the Pinout, Characteristics and Equivalent transistors for replacement information’s.

What is BC548 Transistor?

It is a Bipolar junction transistor and comes with TO-92 plastics packaging. This NPN transistor is common transistor in audio signal processing and switching circuits. One P-type layer (the base) is sandwiched between two N-type layers (the emitter and the collector). The base is very thin and lightly doped, The emitter is heavily doped to release electrons and collector is collects those electrons.

Basic Information’s about BC548

Characteristics of BC548

  • Collector-Emitter Voltage (VCE max): 30 V
  • Collector-Base Voltage (VCB max): 30 V
  • Emitter-Base Voltage (VEB max): 5 V
  • Maximum Collector Current (IC max): 100 mA
  • Power Dissipation (Ptot): 500 mW
  • DC Current Gain (hFE): 125 – 900 (depends on model grade: A/B/C)
  • Transition Frequency (fT): ~150 MHz
