PMPO: Real Marketing Tactic

The term PMPO which stands for Peak Music Power Output of an audio amplifier or speaker. This is a marketing term or a fake value used in audio equipment to indicate the maximum power a speaker or amplifier can handle, but it’s not a reliable or standardized measure of audio power.

What it PMPO

PMPO is designed as to the peak power output of an amplifier or speaker. Which  means the maximum power a speaker or amplifier can handle for a very short period of time such as often in milliseconds.

The Real Marketing tactic

PMPO ratings are often inflated and can be misleading most of the amplifier buyers. They don’t reflect the actual continuous power output or long term performance power of the amplifier.

PMPO is Not a reliable measure

PMPO is not a standard value and different manufacturers use different methods to calculate PMPO values. So making comparisons of different amplifiers or speakers is difficult.

RMS vs PMPO

RMS (Root Mean Square) value is a more accurate and standardized measure of continuous power output of an amplifier or speaker. Which will represent the average power a speaker or amplifier can handle over a longer period. You can calculate the RMS value from PMPO using PMPO to RMS calculator

You Must Need to Focus on RMS

When choosing audio equipment, it’s more important to focus on the RMS power rating rather than the PMPO values. The seller will convince you about the fake value of the audio amplifier. But better to look for the original RMS values.
